About Air Curtains:
Air curtains are aerodynamically designed air blowers generating a laminar stream of air with sufficient quantity (cfm) and speeds (velocity) to offer the desired environment protection through open doorways/service hatches. Generally, installed atop the opening to give a vertical air draft all across the opening from top to bottom. However, there can be exceptions wherein door side mounted vertical installations may be advisable to offer a horizontal air barrier.

Factors guiding air curtain selection process: • Opening dimensions. • End use of air curtains [dust barrier/thermal barrier/odour barrier/fumes barrier/insect barrier] • Whether the proposed openings are internal or external openings of the set-?up / plant. • Prevalent environment conditions both within the opening and outsides. • Outside wind velocities and air currents. • Differential pressure between 2 environments that unit's air draft has to withstand. D. How to test your air curtain’s efficiency: • For dust/thermal/odour barrier: A smoke test will remain an ideal test to determine the efficiency of installed air curtain. Suggestive floor level velocity should be 1.0 to 2.0 m/sec. • For Insect barrier: A lamp test. Check the velocity of air draft at floor level, it should be uniform across the opening width @ 4.0 to 6.0 m/sec minimum. IV.
